Our club was founded in 1990 as a ladies'
team based around the ex members of the Manchester
Metropolitan University team. Then in 1991 a men's team was formed,
again from ex MMU players. Since then not only British players but also
many foreign players have joined us. MPVC has attracted European, as
well as African, Asian, North and South American players.
Since the very beginning, both teams
have been playing in Division 1 of the Greater Manchester League and
in the cup competitions governed by the Greater
Manchester Volleyball Association. We also participate in nationwide
cup competitions.
Our men's team were cup winners and
vice champions of Division 1 of the Greater Manchester League in 1998/99.
